Hot soapy water and bleach.

Don: We have had the same problem over the years. You can scrub it with just soap and water but the mold will return if you do not kill the spores. I suggest you use hot soapy water and bleach (bleach kills the spores). If yours is like ours, you will need a brush or something to get to the area that are out of arms reach. Once you are done, you can rinse it out with fresh water to get all of the dead crap out of the area. Ours drains to the bilge so a hose worked well.

Bleach,,then

Steve is right use soap water and bleach .but after to make sure it doesnt happen again.the bunk needs air..you can use dry bunk pads or we use the interlocking grid squares that have little feet on them..it gives some ventilation under our cushions and so far have worked great. Product is (Kendall Products) Dri-Dek panels West marine carries them

Another "After..." Alternative

We just bought a roll of HyperVent to put underneath the large aft berth - we too had some mold and mildew in prior seasons. After some research, we decided on this product over some of the "stiffer" products - this has a bit of "give" to it (3/4" thick) but is very light weight. Mildew Removal

To remove Mildew: Use a combination of Hyrdogen Peroxide and baking soda, Make a paste, mix only enough for the areas you're working on, scrub with a brush, keep wet for 20 minutes and remove.
