Mildew stains on sails

I have some mildew and dirt (from wasps nests) stains on my Catalina 22 mainsail. Does anyone have a recomendation on how to try to remove these. I have washed the sail throughly.Thank you, Darby Mayfield

Mildew

Sorry but mildew seems to be fairly permanent. I wouldn't use bleach cuz that could very likely damage the sail. Just wash thoroughly and be sure to air the sail out occasionally if you aren't able to sail frequently. Good luck!LaDonna

I sent all my 13 yr old sails to SailCare and they came back looking like new. They had mildew and aluminum/metal stains on them. The only problem I had with the job was some of the stitching (to hold down the lettering on the main for washing) was done poorly. If you can afford it, you might consider it (cost me $500 for 4 sails, included adding a reef pt to the main).
