How to Remove the mildew, then keep it off.
I live and boat in the Fla Panhandle. We invented mold and mildew. Cleaning mildew is an easy matter, but you want to do it with as mild a solution as possible. Most mild: Try Lysol Mildew & Mold REmover spray in a can. Let it sit. SCRUB WITH BRUSH lightly. Rinse. Repeat if necessary.Next step up: Mild bleach solution. About 1/2 cup to gallon of warm water. Spray on. Scrub with brush. Rinse. Repeat if necessary. Next step up: Add a 1/4 cup of TSP (available at most paint stores, Home Depot, Lowe's, home centers, hardware stores) to the mix mentioned above. In all cases, rinse thoroughly in final stage and dry in sun, not shade. The cushions may come completely clean, however, if mold or mildew turns brown or black, you've killed it and just need to take some dishwashing liquid detergent, scrub it in, rinse it off thoroughly. Once you've got your cushions clean, spray them once a month or so with a mild solution of bleach to fend off future problems. It is a lot easier to keep it off than to clean it off once it sets in. Hope this helps!!
