Prevention is better than cure
Of course mildew can rot conventional fabrics, but I am assuming that you have a sail made of dacron or another modern material that the mildew cannot easily penetrate. Try some DILUTED bleach solution to kill and remove the stains (too much cold weaken the fabric). You should keep the sails aired and sunlight is also a great mildicide (although too much , again could rot the fabric). You might wipe over with some sort of proprietary mildew preventive product. I don't know of one off hand but our clea or sea glow could be used (then rinsing off excess with water and twelling dry) since these products contain anti-oxidants and mildew inhibitors.WHat sort of sails are they? How bad is the problem - all this info would help.ThanksJimW
