Arghhhh need to go install a new shore power cord set, 30A inlet & re-terminate the AC panel. This on a boat that's still in the water........

At 0F right now, I guess I'll be leaving my shorts at home for the first time in about two years.....:cussing: I hate pants but working outdoors at 0F sometimes you gotta draw the line in the sand..... er ice...........

I feel your pain, I was headed to Eastport today to check the boat and remove some woodwork to bring home and refinish, unfortunately its' -20 celcius with a wind chill of -30. Time to stay home and dream of better days.

It's zero here too, in our freezer.:laugh:

Charleston is really nice this time of year, had to use an unbrella today but it is still nice. Living aboard has been so different than just sailing or cruising, we've almost slowed down enough to qualify as "Oh you're retired". You didn't mention the flip-flops, are you wearing socks with the toes cut out?

Hey All U Get. Hows the weather/wind been holding down in Charleston lately? If all systems are go, I've got to bring a Cheoy Lee down there this weekend..

Moved from Michigan to Virginia, left all my winter stuff at my place in Michigan including my snow shovel....
These people down here start wearing about 3 layers of goose down when the temperature hits 50F. If the weather man forecasts a tenth of an inch of snow everybody panics and stocks up on bottled water, bread , and toilet paper. Nobody here has any clue as to how to drive in snow. They think the signs "Watch for Ice on Bridge" literally mean stop and look at the road surface before proceeding. If the wheels start slipping, give it more gas...

Heh Seadaddler, I hope the weather holds there for a long while as I've been invited to Punta Gorda to sail with a friend for a couple of weeks later this month. Arriving the 11th hopefully so I'll keep an eye out for you on the water.

We first-time cruisers and haven't been in town more than a week yet so I couldn't help much on the weather. We ran the ICW and learned a lot about getting stuck, unstuck, and waiting for bridges with tides. Somebody local might be able to help or your destination marina should have good info.

Now Doug...I dont go to 3 layers until it hits 45:snooty: And what's "snow"? Could it be something they get up there in Northern VA?

It's cold. The woodstove couldn't keep up last night so I actually turned the fossil fueled heat on in the house this morning, it was 58 in here. I bagged the shorts about a week or so ago, knees started creaking :)

One winter in NH it got so cold at our house that the flames on the logs froze right there. We had to take them outside in the sun in order to put the fire out.

I was in Indiana for that one, Insurance bought us a new roof after the ice knocked a tree through ours.... They couldn't plow the road in front of our house, so they plowed the river next to it instead.

We just finished vacationing in Sarasota Florida. Sadly I am back in Atlanta. I sailed around the bay with my daughters. We saw manatee, did a little fishing and watched birds. For the first time ever we did not see any dolphin. The weather forecasts were terrible. We got caught in a rainstorm. Shorts and a t-shirt were not enough I had to put on a hat to stop the raindrops from hitting me in the eyeball.

It got cold one day, it went down into the 50's, so we stayed huddled inside.

My youngest daughter is in 9th grade. Hopefully in three years I will be moving down to Punta Gorda and I will be able to throw away my long pants.

Going to be around 80 again today but a front with rain coming through on the weekend. Still planning to go cruising for 4 days. Get away and read some books, comb the beach, some slap and tickle with the admiral, sip some scotch all is well with the world.
