For you late model passage 42 owners I was wonderinig if any of you had the mid ship chock rollers fail and were you able to replace the rollers? Mine fell apart this winter and I want to renew them. Also wondering if any of you have replaced the accordian type window coverings in the main salon and what you used. Mine are looking really bad / dirty and the strings have broken off some of them. Thanks for your time, Brian s/v Lion's Den

Hi Brian, the type of mid ship cleat that...

I installed on our boat did not need chocks. See links below. http://kb.sailboatowners.com/brand?post=380 http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/pix.tpl?folder=73320152607&sku=1181425165102941041&fno=17 Our port light coverings were dirty when we purchased the boat in 2002. Cleaned right up in the bathtub at home using regular clothes detergent. You should be able to hand sew new nylon strings to replace the bad ones. Ours are still okay. Terry

Pleated Shades

Call Lynn Matos at Bristol Yacht Interiors (401) 247-4499 and tell her that Bill Kahn from H&S Yacht Sales in Oxnard referred you. She has all the measurements for the total replacement of 16 pleated window shades and will do it at a very reasonable cost. I replaced all of mine and they look great! The only thing you might ask about is if you were to send the old shades to her could they match up the holes so you don't have to drill new ones, if not it isn't a big deal just a little color matching with some bondo. Email me if you have any questions. PS-went by your boat yesterday and she needs a bath, lol.

It looks like not to many P42 folks have had the rollers fall apart like mine did???? Maybe to much sun U/V damage. I did wash the boat off in the afternoon because you were right...it needed it bad. All the dirt from the santa ana's and then a light rain = mud on deck. I'll come by soon and take a look at the window shades and see if they are up to my standards ;-) Talk to you soon, Brian
