Microwave outlet

It appears that our microwave has gone south on us aboard our Hunter 460. The Hunter Manuel states that there is an outlet specifically for the microwave behind where the microwave sits. I have been almost taking the boat apart to find it to no avail. I do see where the cord disappears down a hole in back. Any help would be appreciated. Barritt...aboard Serendipity II

I think I remember a similar situation on our H356. I'm sorry to say I don't think we ever were able to access that outlet. I think you can get to it but not without moderate disassembly. It may be behind the refrig. I don't even remember why we wanted to access it.

If your new Microwave is the about same Amp load, you can use the old cord and install a new outlet or do a new junction box to ABYC standards.

If it were my boat I would likely disconnect the cord from the new unit and connect the old cord in its place. I've never done this with a microwave unit, so I'm assuming the cord is laid down onto a small connector buss with machine screws and spades inside the back of the new unit.

I would cut the old cord long enough to use as an extension cord, attach a female plug and you are in business.

Thanks to all for your responses. I think using the old cord as an extension cord will work great. Barritt
