We own a 2006 46' Hunter and had to replace the Tappan microwave. Once we removed the wood trim piece we were appalled to discover the unit was held in place with a chunk of styrofoam and a wood screw drilled into the top of the microwave from the shelf above! :lame:

Does anyone know the radiation danger caused from the screw penetrating the microwave casing for the past seven plus years?!?
.

I was once out sailing on my new 356 and after some really great sailing on a starboard tack stepped below for a second and was shocked to see microwave hanging a good 70% out of the built in cabinet space.

If the screw did not penetrate into the inner cavity shell where the food goes, there is no risk of radiation exposure from that screw. Even if it did go into the food cavity.. so you could see it when you open the door to put food in, the re-radiated energy would be pretty much shielded by the microwave outer shell. A hand held VHF would be many times more likely to cause radiation problems.
EDIT: ya making me laugh, Don
EDIT AND .. it really is a strange title, but if you hum a couple of bars, I can probably play it..??

Microwave radiation is not ionizing radiation like Xrays or gamma rays. Your huevos didn't get scrambled.
