I have a Micrologic Explorer II Loran unit. Last year, for no apparent reason, the readout flashes(not supposed to flash) with the wrong coordinates. Anybody out there experience similar problems and know what to do about it? I like using the Loran as a backup to my gps, and, I think the government has extended the life of Loran C recently(at least that's what I read in Boat US). Please advise...

Micrologic Loran

I had one on the boat when I bought her. One day it just fried for no apparent reason. I tried to get it fixed for the same reasons as you but they are out of business and/or said it wasn't worth fixing a 13 year old unit. I threw it away. Today I use a garmin 45 and a Micrologic Sportnav, both hand held units, one gps, the other loran and it works great for me. The gps has a mount inside at the nav station if needed but I keep it at the wheel in the cockpit while underway so I can monitor position, speed, vmg, waypoints, etc. dave

you can still get micrologic products repaired, I had a Micrologic GPS on the last boat that went bad. I contacted Boat/US and they gave me a name and address for repair. If I remember right it was Avmar electronics. I no longer hve the address, sorry. Try Boat/US.
