Does anyone know where I can ger replacement parts for the steering unit. Merriman is the Mfg. I need the part that sets into the binical and holds the shift anf speed cables

Merriman Yacht Specialties went out of business in approximately 1989. Edson does not stock any of their spare parts, and most parts in the pedestal or engine controls are not compatible. This being the case, your best bet would seem to be hunting the consignment stores and salvage yards, or perhaps posting ads for someone who is selling their Merriman system to upgrade to an Edson. Mike, My original equipment on my Coronado 35's pedestal was Yacht Specialties (Merriman). When I bought it, it had some abomination that someone hand-built that looked like crap. I decided to see if I could replace it with the original. I found a pedestal with no controls and bought it for about $80. I watched, but never saw just the controls. I eventually found a pedestal and controls together, and bought them for, I believe $130 or so. I've since traded the extra pedestal for something else. When I was winning the bidding on the pedestal, I got TWO offers in email along the lines of "your out of my budget, but if you'd like to sell just the controls, I could use them". That leads me to believe that they're hard to find. On the other hand, all of this stuff (now that I have it all) is pretty "building blocks". I strongly suspect that Edson has a part that would work. Expect to pay MUCH more than the $130 I found mine for though. They like their new parts at Edson. I think I remember seeing the control section with levers in the neighborhood of $400-$500. If you need the measurements of the set I have, let me know and I'll send it. I haven't installed it yet. No guarantee that my pedestal is the same as yours though.
