It is a liquid metal...
The Romans called him a god "Mercury". He was one of the12 Dii Consentes within the ancient Roman pantheon.
"Mercury, the messenger of the gods, guide of the dead, and protector of merchants, shepherds, gamblers, liars, and thieves." He carried caduceus to announce his station as a messenger.
And it is the name of a planet. The closest one in our planetary system to the Sun. On 11 November Mercury dashed across the face of the Sun in what is called a "Celestial Transit". Celestial transits are - where a celestial body is seen to pass across the solar disk from the perspective of the Earth. They are relatively rare events. The planet Mercury undergoes around 13 transits a century.
We mortals have often missed this event. But our ingenuity has given us a rare glimpse. See if you can see the transit in the attached video.
