Hello All,

We purchased a 1987 Catalina 30 MKII hull #4993Some Pics Here.

The PO took off the oven burner, pilot light and mercury valve. Suremarine wont sell me a valve without the core so I am seeing if anyone has one laying around for junk they want to sell.

The unit is in fantastic shape, I guess the PO didn't use it and sold it to someone else, so I hate to buy a new one if I can get the replacement parts.

Regards,
Nels

Sorry I can't help with advice on were to find a new burner except for trying Catalina Yachts themselves, or EBay or a local marine salvage chandlery, etc. But I ahd to comment on you pics. You have a very unique C 30 there. Never seen the lLxan runnning all the way across the two main cabin ports like that before on a C 30. We used to have an O'Day 35 & that's what your boat looks like now. I also noticed the interesting custom forward overhead hatch & stern platform. Nice.

I was out cleaning the boat yesterday and the PO showed up. Wanted to sell me his old dock box for $50.00 with assorted "stuff" in it. Hidden among the old life jackets, dock lines, oars, etc was the old mercury control valve. Woo Hoo! I can't wait until Monday to call back and find out the price and get the range running. Once that is done all the systems on the boat will be working like new.

By the way, it's taken me 10 hours to wet sand the whole boat with 1000 grit sandpaper and another 6 hours to do half the hull and deck with polishing compound, finesse it and wax. Half the boat to go and am finishing sanding the teak hand rails and trim pieces and have applied two coats of cetol.

It's almost 26 years "brand new" again, lol

Update, we have "fire", uggh uggh uggh, lol.
I told my wife maybe its a commentary on my pathetic life that I get excited about receiving a "mercury control valve" in the mail, ha ha.

Hog Heaven II, 1987 Catalina 30 MKII has all of the original systems up and running, now onto exciting other gadgets. (Glad it's Christmas)
