Mercury or Honda

I have a 4-stroke Mercury 4 HP on my C-22 that runs great and pushes the hull about 4.2 kts. I like it's low weight (58 lbs), low fuel consumption (approx 0.3 gph)and reliability, but feel it is a tad too light for sailing the SF Bay currents. What are the thoughts and experiences of replacing it with either a 4-stroke 6 HP Mercury or a 5 HP Honda? Thanks.

I have an 8hp Yamaha

2-stroke and it is more than enough.5-6 hp is ideal for the boat. If you want to minimize weight, go with the 5hp (as they are generally 1 cylinder). If it is reliability you want, the go with the 6hp, as they usually have 2 cylinders).Regards,Ted
