I have a 2004 Mercury 5hp 2-cycle engine that only runs on "choke". The engine was tuned in the spring with new spark plug, fuel filter, etc. by the local boat dealer (cost $200.00 - ouch).
The engine ran fine until last week. It starts on choke and when I take the choke off it dies. If I pull the choke out (before it dies) it will run a little longer, until it starts to choke down. I actually got it to the dock by pulling the choke, taking it off, pulling the choke, taking it off, etc.
I took the carbeurator apart, found no contaminants, put it back together and have the same problem.
Any suggestions?
