Mercury 3.5 HP fuel shutoff

I purchased the 3.5HP for the dinghy. It was used and supposedly out of the shop. Oil Site glass was completely filled and the fuel shut off knob is not connected to anything. Also it looks like the actual shut off valve is installed up side down. I can see what parts are needed, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove the shut off knob much less how to replace it. Anyone ever looked at something like this? It looks like I can do it...if not I'll bring it to the shop :)

Give us a year of the outboard as well. Lots of us have that size outboard.
Also, have you tried to remove the lower cowling to access the fuel shut off?

I have a Tohatsu 3.5, which, I believe, is exactly the same motor. Except mine is a 2018 model. You're on your own from here.

What makes you think the valve is upside down? Has the engine been run?

Best bet is to get a service manual for the motor. Is this the model you have?
