Hello everyone,Last night when I hooked up my battery to my main neg and pos wires, I was not for sure if I hooked them up correctly or if I got them crossed. It was pitch black. Part of me thinks I could have just had a short. All at once, many of my wires just melted and created more smoke that you could imagine from all that plastic melting all at once. I think I ruined about 8 or so wires. Most of them I replaced so far. It seems that everything works no. What do you think happened. What could have caused this. I was thinking about it and don't think that hooking the ground to the possitive terminal would have done this. Or would it? The previous owner did not do the best job in the electrical area. I could see many wires that were spliced into and just taped. There were wires that were exposed too in some places. I am at a loss. All and all, I figured out that I only destroyed the Volt Meter on the boat. I can get a replacement at Auto Zone for 12 bucks or so. I just don't want this happening again. Here is my worry. If it was a cross in the wires some place, where can a cross such as this occure. When it comes to electrical, I know enough to wire my home. (I have done this) But there is still a lot that I can learn in this area. Thankx for any info you can provide me!Your Friend,Skip
