MD6A Tachometer?

My MD6A has what looks like an inductive pickup transducer screwed into
the timing gear cover in close proximity to the teeth of the camshaft
gear. It seems to serve simply as a bung for the threaded hole in the
cover, as the external electrical terminations are not wired out. I
presume that there must have been a tachometer option for this engine.
Does anyone have any info/circuit diagrams relating to this?

Hi John

You are correct in saying it is an inductive (Hall effect) sensor. There
is a tachometer available but not cheap. Keep an eye open on Ebay and
they sometimes appear.

The tacho has all the circuitry enclosed in the casing.

Question Steve - We have a tacho on Spring Fever, but it doesn't work as it's not connected to anything, presumeably one of these Hall Effect Sensors? Are they easily/cheaply available to try and get it working again?
