MD6A Exhaust Riser

Again, Hello All:

Does anybody have any old MD6A parts laying around?

The exhaust riser on mine has split. The riser is the part that connects
to the aft end of the exhaust manifold, where the water enters and joins with
the exhaust.

I tried repairing it with epoxy (J.B. Weld. Paul Harvey said it should
work), but this year it seems to have opened up even more than last year.

Additionally, I do have a great deal of used MD6A parts laying around.
When I bought VESPER, the fellow selling her advertised her as having "A
spare engine." The spare engine turned out to be almost true, but not quite.
If anybody has a need for used parts, or the entire "spare", please let me
know.

Hello All,

Hello again, all. I have been looking for an exhaust riser (the cast iron
extension at the aft end of the exhaust manifold, where the rubber hose
connects that then goes to the muffler). I finally found one in [almost] my
own back yard.

I haven't been there yet, but the owner of the business assured me, by
phone, that he will have one in two days. The price is a mere $174.10, he
says. I had expected at least $350 or more.

Should anybody else be looking for parts for their Volvo MD6A- or B, you
might contact this fellow in Bloomfield, CT. His name is Paul Beaudoin at
McDonnell Marine Services, 8 East Newberry Road, Bloomfield, DT 06002. His
phone number is (860) 243-9114, Fax: (860) 286-0861. Be sure to tell him you
got his name from Ed Davis in Mystic, CT.

Smooth Sailing

Ed,
If you still can't get an exaust riser contact Depaul
Diesel, in Portsmouth, RI. They sell them. Thanks
for the parts source number. Vega 1460 is original
down to the funky exaust system.

Cheers

Peter
