Hey Gang, thank you everyone for your excellent help on this question!
It is wonderful to have such a wealth of experienced, generous,
sympathetic Vegatarians available over the internet when we run into a
snag. Will let you know how I manage with the timing on the weekend.
Patrick, I may well be in touch if I get confounded again in the
process. Wish me luck, Trev

Trevor,
If you have removed the injector pump, when you install it you have make
sure its in time with the valve train. There are three marks on the
intermediate gear -one of which has to be aligned with the timing mark
on the injector pump drive gear . I'll explain how it's done if you need
to know. Otherwise, setting the timing is done with the lower injector
pump side plate removed, and after you spot the very faint timing line
on the disc inside, you rotate the pump after loosening the retention
nuts so that the it's lined up with the indicator when the flywheel 10
BTDC mark is lined up with the mark on block the ( the mark is a bead of
weld).
Let me know if you want any information. I recently re installed my
pump, and because I turned the engine while it was off, I had to get it
all back in time.

Thanks Groundhog. It appears that you were the author of many of the
earlier postings. I will look again for that timing mark. Did you have
to remove the paint to find yours, or use a magnifying glass? Trev

There is a timing mark. Think it's on the edge of the flywheel and not
the front. Like maybe a 1/8 inch line that was banged into the metal.
Hard to see if paint is on it.
Search the vega archives. There are quite a few references and postings
on this. Some of them give additional info probably not found in the
manuals.

Hi again! I'd rather be sailing but . . .
(1) Has anyone got instructions how to re-install the injector pump
for the correct timing of the pump to the engine?
(2) Reference is made in the VODCA materials to a Volvo MD6 manual
that contains these instructions. Has anyone got a copy of this they
are willing to share?
(3) Is there supposed to be a timing mark on the flywheel?
Desperately yours, Trevor (V2915)
