Maxwell winches

In renovating my H-34 winches, I've got thhe core shaft out and the drum about 3" up and it seems to be stuck there. Before I resort to hammer and crowbar methods, I'd appreciate any advice. This is a Maxwell 25. I have the dwg. of the 23STA and it looks similar. Thanx in advance.

Make sure to cut a hole in a shoebox to fit around the winch and put it over the winch to catch parts when you finally have it apart. Mine was a little tight coming off too, but I finally forced it off. You have to be very careful not to bend outer drum or break any bearings. Sorry I don't have advise on how to get it off, but make sure you put a box down to catch all the parts if things decide to come apart on you.
