Maxwell 24 Winch handle

I have a '85 Hunter 34 with Maxwell 24 winches and cannot find any winch handles that will lock in. It appears that the "slot" for the locking device is in the center of socket and NOT at the bottom like all the handles that I can find. Does anyone have Maxwell wishes and know of the manufacture of handles that work? Thanks

I have Lewmar winches, and the Lewmar locking handle...

Looking at the Maxwell Winches on ebay,

I see they use the typical star pattern gear. They appear to have a notch in the star gear part way down into the gear. I am guessing you need a pin or a spring loaded bead to pop out of the handle gear

Have you tried the Lewmar winch handle?

This type is typical but does not work.


I am not sure but the Lewmar Single Touch may be what I am thinking has a bead lock mentioned above. I can not get a good image of the gear and I am not at my boat.
