Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me anything about MaxProp and AutoProp? How are they different/the same? I'm still trying to figure out what to get before spring next year. Thanks. Warren S/V Jetmags B331

Maxi prop

We have a c-34 and it has a max on it. I am usually a little faster than other 34 but I believe they have fixed props. It is a great prop with good bite in both forward and reverse. It minimizes prop walk and can be adjusted to the pitch that you need for your sailing areas. Our boat is a 1994 and it has been fine with just grease each year Good luck Rich

Maxi prop

Nov.26,2000 Dear Warren, How's Jetmags doing? I agree with Rich’s comments. I expect, given the limited knowledge I have of Auto prop, that you could be equally satisfied with either. We have a maxi prop which we have been very satisfied with, particularly when operating in reverse. In Mazatlan we were accused of showing off when boat traffic caused us to back all the way through the marina to the fuel dock. Part of the credit has to go to Beneteau for building a well balanced boat as well. I haven’t any experience with the auto prop other than one fellow I met who complained that his had too much power in reverse even when at idle, causing reversing into a slip to be more exciting than he liked. He suspected he had to make an adjustment to the prop and was contacting the manufacturer the last time I saw him. Brian Pickton@ BeneteauOwners.net Aboard the Legend, Rodney Bay, St. Lucia

Warren, you might want to ask this over in the Prop & Drive Train Forum. It's moderated by PYI, the distributors for Max-Prop. They'll be able to answer your questions about specific differences. LaDonna

maxprop on our h450

We put a maxprop on our 450 and it seems to work OK. Speed in fwd is slightly less than with the fixed prop, performance in reverse seems quite good. However, I think it produces a bit more vibration than the fixed prop and not much improvement in sailing performance. Only a few tenths of a knot, certainly not what we expected.
