I just bought a 1981 Hunter 30'. This boat has the 4' shoal draft keel. I have to move it 250 miles to my home port. Does anyone know the height of this boat from the bottom of the keel to the top of the cabin? The hauler says it can not be over 13' 6" total including the trailer. It is still in the water, so The man I bought it from (great and very helpful guy), and myself measured where we could and calculated the rest and we think it is a little over 10'. If anyone knows this dimention, I would appreciate it, thank you. Phil.

Height off of the pavement

Did you include the height of the keel off of the pavement and anything, like the mast, that would be hauled on top of the cabin? Our 25.5 shoal keel ended up being over 11 feet up everything considered. That was on a trailer designed for a Catalina 27 (usually a little over 13' on the trailer). If you have concerns over the route, drive it and check the minimum overpass clearances. Take into consideration low-hanging traffic signals and wires crossing the road.

An estimate based on our '77 h27

Here is my guess, using specs from this site, and similarities with our Lady Lillie, a 27 of the same design. Shoal Keel 2 1/2 feet Bottom & bilge through liner 1/2 foot Headroom 6 1/3 feet Liner through top of mast step 1 foot Total = 10 1/3 feet. Depending on how you lay the mast on the boat for shipping, it could add up to six inches max. The next question is what is his clearance from the road to the keel support? The shoal draft keel of these models is really stubby! I can't imagine this won't work out. David Lady Lillie
