I am currently outfitting my C-22 and elected to go with oversize anchors. The chainlocker of my Mark 2 will just nicely hold 150' of 3/8 nylon with 10' chain, and a 7.5 kg Bruce anchor. This ground tackle is recommended for a boat 3x the displacement, but hey. However. The FX-11 Fortress brand Danforth style anchor does not even come close to fitting. The hole is max 21 inches wide (FX11 is 22) and 24 inches long (FX is 26 inches). Measure the space first. the Mark 2 chainlocker is quite adequate for recommended anchors--heads up on oversize.

Get more chain, if you are really concerned

And get rid of the anchor that doesn't fit. Don't really know why you'd want an anchor so big. If you are anchoring in some wicked places, go with all chain rode. That makes more sense than a big anchor on a bitty 10 foot length of chain. To be more logical, get 30 to 50 feet of chain and about 250 feet of line. Pretty much guarantee you won't go anywhere. Big anchors aren't the answer. It's the scope and the amount of chain holding it down. Sneak up to a 5/16 or 3/8 chain if you are really worried, but can the big anchor. Good Luck. Brad Brad

All-Chain rode option

Brad, the all chain rode suggestion instead of an oversize FX-11 fluke anchor would not work as well, because of two things: 1. my spouse would not be able to raise or lower anchor 2. the forward weight most likely would seriously affect sailing performance The fluke anchor works so very well when you can get it to set, and needs nothing more than nylon rode so stows well, weighs 7 lbs so anyone can send one down--that is why I have one, just wish it fit the anchor locker. The Stbd side cockpit locker works tho.
