Does anyone know the max rpm and redline rpm for a Yanmar 3GM30F in a 35.5 Legend fitted with a 13X10 two blade prop? We're thinking of changing to a 3 blade. Thanx Fred Miller

3600

Fred: The MAX rpm rating is 3600. If you have the correct prop, and everything else is clean..... You should be able to rev to somewhere in the range of 3400-3700. When purchasing a new prop, you should give a prop shop your spec and let them determine what THEY think is the correct specs. PS:

Fred: Whoa, are you sure about the prop? The specs of the boat call for a 16 x 13 2 blade. Which would be estimated to be a 16 x 11/12 3 blade. No wonder you what to change props.

Max RPM

We have a 1991 35.5 with original yanmar manual. Max RPM should be 3600. We have a 3 blades prop 15 X 13 and can only get 3300 rpm with that propeller. At 2400 RPM on calm water with no current we cruise at 6,3 to 6,4 knots pulling the inflatable in the water. There is absolutely no propwalk in reverse. The boat is very easy to handle both in forward and reverse. We kept the original 2 blades as a spare. Only drawback is a silght loss in performance wile sailing. I estimate this between .2 to .4 knots.

Wrong prop!!

You have the wrong prop on now and your thinking of putting on a worse one!! You've got a lot of money invested in your boat, buy the right prop. Your boat came with a fived 16X13 2 blade which revs out @ 3400 and pushes the boat to 7.3 in flat water. I changed to a Max Prop 2 blade feathering and reach 7.4 @3200. A fixed 2 has a lot of drag, a 3 has 50% more drag than a 2. A feathering prop gets you the best of both worlds, excellent motoing power and excelent sailing.

I'M Wrong It is a 16X13

Steve, You're right I'm wrong and I knew that! It must be my age afffecting my senses {I'm 59 next week] It is a 16x13 two blader. Hunter tells me optimum cruise RPM is 2800-3000. Max RPM is 3600. I run the rough inlets on the Jersey coast so I'm looking for some more punch to plow through and was told a three blade MP prop will do it. Racing is not a concern of mine so losing a half knot or so is no big deal to me. Any other thoughts? fred Miller
