What type of lubricant is used on the max prop without a grease fitting? Any owner know the procedure? Thanks for any information, Hauling out next week. Richard

PYI Link

Don't have my owners manual handy but one can contact www.pyiinc.com and they could tell you. There should be a set screw which can be removed with an allen wrench - I think metric size - on the side of the two halves. A zerk fitting should be installed (again, metric threads, I think) and with a small grease gun the grease can be squirted in. I bought a collection of small zerk fittings and small grease gun at an autoparts store. The grease gun had a pointed end vice the hose and coupling type fitting that goes over the fitting. One puts the pointed end of the grease gun against the zerk fitting and squirts away. After greasing, remove the zerk fitting and replace the cap screw. Wrap the grease gun in a paper towel and put it, the zerk fitting, and the allen wrench in a zip-loc bag for safe keeping til next year. If the zerk fitting is in fact metric, you'll need a metric wrench too.

Use Lubriplate Marine "Lube A"

A check of the Max-Prop Instruction Book says to use a sea water grease. From experience Lubriplate Marine "Lube A" works the best. Note: DO NOT USE TEFLON GRASE it will wash out very quickly. If you contact PYI it would be good to order yourself an Instruction Book as this also provides directions on how to put the prop back tohether after it has been taken apart.
