max power bow thruster problem

beneteau B40 Bronte
I have a 2007 Beneteau B40, with a Max Power CT 80 bow thruster.

It has worked very well since new. Starting in late summer the unit would turn it self off (from the standby mode) without any warning, sometimes after 20 seconds, sometimes after 3 minutes---no pattern. I have the 2 button on/off switch. Normally it will turn itself off after any non use in 10 minutes, with the normal 2 beep warning.

I checked the wiring and nothing is loose and there is absolutely no corrosion at either the on/off switch, or in the motor/relay in the bow.

I replaced the two button on/off switch and that did not make a difference.

The actual bow thruster action (when used to turn the boat) is fine. The issue is that it quietly turns off while in standby use so when I go to use it I must turn it back on first, which is usually quick but sometimes delayed.

Is there a chance that the relay is somehow overheating while in the standby mode? Is the solution to replace the relay module (which is about $400 or so)? Or, whatelse can I test first?

Thanks

Rick
