Max Angle of Heel?

When motor sailing I am concerned about the maximum permissable angle of heel before the oil pickup is no longer immersed. In light airs the heeling is minimal but what about in a sudden gust? The engine is a Yanmar 4JH2 but I cannot see anything in the manual regarding this matter. Your advice would be much appreciated.

Heel angle

Yanmar states that continuous motor sailing at 20 deg. angle is OK and that 30 deg is acceptable for short periods. I should think that the duration of a knock down should be considered. Very brief interuptions in the oil pick-up would probably not diminish oil pressure greatly. The speed of the engine should also be considered. The faster it is turning, the more oil needs to be circulated. I think if I were sailing with 20 deg. of heel, I would shut that noisy thing off anyway.
