Memory Foam Topper
Cut out a memory foam topper. COSTCO has them for around 100.00. You can also cut a new foam piece of thicker foam , more or less dense as you prefer. Link below to a good foam place. The spray adhesive will join pieces together.

Wool Futon Pad
I have the eggcrate pad (and a Thermorest, too). My solution is a wool 3" futon pad (queen size)to be placed on top of the Hunter pad. I tried this out at Soaring Heart Futon Mattress shop (SoaringHeart.com)in Seattle a couple weeks ago. The wool stays cool and does not absorb moisture like a cotton pad would( major no-no). They laid one of these out on top of a 2 inch foam pad (to mimic my Hunter pad) and I tried it out. It will be my boat "improvement" somtime this winter. Now if I can figure out an easier way to hoist myself out of that under cockpit cabin first thing in the morning, I will have it made.

egg crate topper works well
added an egg crate topper, queen size and cut to fit. had on top at first then put under stock pad. looked better. Would have liked to use a thicker pad but the height is marginal already. check out Target or Walmart real cheap fix.

I found a bundle of these at Sam's club, takes two packages to cover the area under the cockpit. Has a number of interlocking pieces that you can then cut to fit, to go under the mattress. About 1/2" thick and much denser than foam which crushes down overnight - this stuff doesn't.

My best spent $50 !!
We found a memory foam topper @ Bed Bath & Beyond for only $49.95. It didn't even need to be cut - just lay across the existing pads. I wouldn't put anything UNDER the upholstered pads unless there is a similar NON-absorbant material like Hunter puts on their pads.
