Mattress Pad Recommendations

After several nights aboard, my wife and I have come to the conclusion that the aft cabin foam mattress in our Hunter 33 is somewhat harder than we would like.

We were at Bed Bath & Beyond, and there are several styles, with prices ranging from $69-249. Does anyone have recommendation? I'm leaning toward a 2 inch memory foam style.

On the plus side, we love everything about the boat so far. Our pups took their first sailboat ride. What a blast.

Hi Juice,
We have the H356 and should be very similar to yours. We have the original bed pad with two 1.5 or 2 inch memory pads on top. Sleeps as though we were in our own home bed. Have had this configuration for about 6 years.

Juice, We also have a 33 and have gone to a 4" memory foam pad for the same reason. I would suggest that you go with two narrow pads or cut a large one in half. If not it's a real pain rolling up the pad to get to the shaft log and the stroage under the mattress.

We bought a 2 in. Serta memory foam topper from overstock for less than $100. The two inch is perfect and made a huge difference. The things are heavy, which is one reason we decided on a 2 in. vs. something thicker. Ours is in the v-berth and we used the original mattress panels to trace out the area to be cut from the foam. We needed a king to get the proper width at the wide end. Given yours is an aft cabin, you probably won't have that problem.

We have 3 Inch Memory foam in our VBerth and it makes such a difference. Lucky you that you are not cutting to Vberth, that is such a challenge. You will love the difference it makes in your comfort.
