Matching the prop to my 26X

I recently purchased a 26X with a 50hp 4 stroke Honda. The dealer put a 11 3/4 by 10 prop on it. Now that I have run it a few times, I find that the motor can easily pass the RPM redline before I have full throttle. It looks like I could use a prop with a greater pitch. Looking at Honda marine web page, it looks like Honda standard props have reduced diameter coinciding with increases in pitch. This makes it difficult to determine the changes in performance since two variables are changing simultaneously. In addition, the leading edge of my prop blade is straight. This reduces the blade area. I don't know the reason behind this blade configuration. Having said all this, what I'm looking for is 26X owners that have completed WOT tests with their boats and determined the best fit prop. Can anybody pass on some of their experience? Thanking in advance, all of you who have taken the time to read this. Regards, Darryl Crockett

I have the same set up. I can over rev only when empty ballast. When full ballast I get right up to 6K. I tried a larger pitch but could never get 6K again. So I deal with it and throttle back when empty.
