To Anyone who can help: A friend and I have an Oday trailerable day sailor with a small cabin probably 17 feet. It is in decent shape, but needs a mast, sail and tiller. Any idea where these items can be found. Nothing special is required as we are novices wanting to learn the basics.

Thanks

The tiller can be purchased at D&R Marine,http://www.drmarine.com/ He may even have the sails in stock. The spars can be purchased from any sailboat rigging shop in your area. They have all the specs for the O'Day boats. O'Day built the boats and did all the woodwork at the factory, but spars, running and standing rigging, rudders, and other hardware were all supplied by other companies two numerous to mention. The mast and boom could have been supplied by Dwyer-Damco, or Isomat Spars. They were probably made by Dwyer. The year of the boat should be stamped on the upper right corner of the transom of the boat which would be the last two numbers with a letter at the end. It's important to know this when trying to buy the things needed for this boat. Good luck.

Hi, congratulations on your sailboat. If i had two pick only four sources for sailing information, I would choose:
1. Dummies guide to sailing
2. http://www.animatedknots.com/
3. This Old Boat, by D. Casey
4. This forum
If i could add a fifth, it would be the periodical "Good Old Boat"
For Dreamiing I like "Sail", a magazine for folks with money, or at least big Debt!
Good luck
