Masthead All Round Light

Hi all,
I am looking to replace the bulb in my existing Sea Choice 05851 masthead light with an LED bulb. IN fact I am taking a bulb inventory this weekend and am going to repalce them all. I believe I have the bulb info but cannot seem to find how to open the dam thing up without destroying it in the process. I have been on google but can't find any answers. I remember looking into it last year and getting stonewalled. I am going to un-mount it from the mast this weekend and try in earnest since this is a huge power draw that can be eliminated. Any suggestions from the group would be much appreciated

Have you tried pushing down while unscrewing?

On mine the black plastic top just screws off. Try turning the top ccw.

I did try pushing down and turning. NG. Didn't want to break it and figured I would ask the group before I destry it trying. That is my luck.
I will try unscrewing the top. Seems like you shouldn't have to remove the entire fixture to change the bulb.

Finding the 31mm, 360 degr 10watt equivilent is a bitch. So far Defender at $26 wins. Ouch. I need to pull the bow and stern lights as well. Maybe a road trip to the sale in CT this weekend. That could prove even more expensive with all the deals going on!!

I replaced mine with a led festoon bulb from Marinebeam. I believe it was $25 but is supposed to be excellent quality. I didn't look for "cheap" when looking for any of my mast lights since I don't want to have to climb up and change them often.
