The master battery switch [ Perko] on my 92' Hunter 35.5 has what appears to be 2 circuit breaker buttons built into the panel. One is marked "Battery" and the other "Bilge Pump." This is the first panel I have seen with these two buttons. I would have assumed the bilge pump circuit breaker would be on the main ship's panel and the same for the batteries being protected by the main DC circuit breakeron the panel. What is the purpose of this arrangement on the battery selector switch and how does it work? My original thought was that "Bilge Pump" breaker button had something to do with the manual side of the electric bilge pump as the bilge pump should always be "hot," correct? no matter what postion the battery selector switch is in. There are no batteries in the boat right now so I can't check these out. Somebody out there must know the answer. Thanks Fred Miller S/Y M Squared

cb/fuse meaning

the "battery" cb or fuse on my P42 is a fused voltage lead from the start battery to the distr. panel voltage meter selector switch. The bilge CB is to protect the wiring to the bilge pump as it has no disconnect at the panel just the manual/auto switch. It is not possible (rightly so) to switch off the bilge pump at the panel or with a battery selector switch.
