Has anyone thought about a mast riasing system for a h30, Can it be done? Looking at a H30 this friday but dont know, I would like the thought of being able to go to the other side of the bridge but need to get the mast down to 28 feet, If I could lower and put in a cradle I could do it. Your thoughts

With the right tools and equipment almost anything is possible but the H 30 mast is about 43 feet long and weights about 250 lbs without the halyards and rigging. You really need a crane to lift is into place. But then again men have gone over Niagara Falls in a barrel and lived. Doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Just my own cents,,,,

How often do you need to go under the bridge? Much simpler to lay the boat over with weight on a halyard.

LOL, Well there is a bridge on the lake I will be on, I would at least like to go over to the other side in the summer maybe one or two times, Or at least know I can.
I dont think I could get the boat to lean over that much to get under.
Well it was a thought anyway. Going to look at the boat in morning and if its a good deal then I will take it even if I cant see the other side, (just hate that there is another 7 miles of lake over there)

What you want is a tabernackle. Requires some modifications to the rigging, but can be done. It enables you to tilt the mast over the bow, using the boom as a lever arm. Probably a project for a professional rigger though.

I have a tabernackle mast on my 78h30, to have a rigging co install one it is around 8 grand. If you did it yourself you could do it for around 2 grand.

hhmmmm I like it, anything to get to the other side I think is going to be good, But why over the bow and not just a tilt back to the back about 2 degrees then just pull it back up to 100%? is this a silly question.

It is much easier to tilt forward. The front of the mast gets a v cut at the base. With a 5 2 1 purchase from the aft part of the boom to the cockpit sole, you disconnect the rear shrouds, and backstay and push up on the boom and play out the line as the mast tilts forward. Under the bridge, pull it back up reconnect shrouds and backstay, it is only scary the first couple times

Very clever, I will need to look at this. Ok I will go look at this boat in the morning and Maybe buy it, If I can go under the brige and use the whole lake I like it.

Thanks
