hunter 27 lake eufaula ok
I am a new owner of a Hunter 27. After rigging the mast, I have a bow in the mast to the aft. I am a little concerned! Is this normal? If not, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jerry

If its a newer model with fractional rigging (the headstay goes up only to 3/4s of the mast) it may be ok. It is known as mast bend and helps with sail trim. With the boat in calm water hang a weight from the halyard shackle and let it swing, then measure the distance from the mast to the halyard, it should be in a range of 2 to 4 inches. I don't know the specs for your boat's rigging so I could not advise for the correct bend but if you get a measuremnt of 6 inches or more there might just be to much bend. The older 27's Cherubinis were masthead rigged (headstay goes all the way up the mast) and there is no mast bend in that configuration.
