Mast Wiring

Rebuilt Venture 24 is almost ready to go; I have some nice marine grade wire to use for the masthead light but it is about three times heavier than the wire that I removed. Should I be concerned about 2 or so more pounds of weight up there or justgo with it?

No!

I was a ship yard engineer in the cable way department. We did weight and moments for the cables installed on a ships. The weight of this cable will not affect the moment arm of your boat very much at all. The weight is distributed over the height of the mast therefore the load is not directly at the top. Now if you were to install a 1000 lbs “close in weapons system” at the top of the mast for power boat control that would be a different story.

By the way; can you get a system like that to repell wakeboarders? I thought the damn jet skis were bad but the little bastards are making three foot seas in the river now!
