I am trying to run a VHF antenna cable through the mast on my Hunter 23.5. I am having trouble snaking it through. I am using a stiff piece of wire as a fish, but keep hitting a snag somewhere in the middle of the mast, and the fish will not go through. Any tips on getting my cable through the mast? I was thinking of buying a real fish tape, maybe that will have the guts to get past the snag.

Tape Measure

There are a few ways 1. Fish Tape 2. Tape Measure, if you have one long enough 3. What I did was to tie a string to the wire for the mast lights and drag the string through the mast attach the VHF cable and drag it back through. It is a good time to replace or at least clean the connections for the mast lighting as well.

Remove obstructions first

I had very much the same problem several days ago.I found P.O. had filled mast with foam. Also blocking me from sending the wiring down were all the screws for the lights ,spreader brackets and winch. It was alot easier to remove the obstructions than to fight my way through them.
