Mast wiring

Tomorrow I plan on running some coax through the mast for my VHF. I looked through the archives and found some good info. Two things I'd like to know before I get into it: 1)In the H260 is there a pvc pipe running the length of the mast? and where does it stop and start? 2) (Bob, maybe you can answer this since I know you did it on Gravyboat) When taking off the ends of the mast, what size rivits do you use and where can I get a rivit gun to put them back in? My gun only goes to 3/16 and it looks as though those rivits are larger than that. I don't want to drill out the current rivits until I know I can put new ones back in properly. -Jay

Cable

On my H240 I drilled a hole near the base and at the top. I used the messanger line that was in the boat when I purchased it to run the cable up the mast. I installed rubber grommets in the hole to eliminate chaffing. Make sure you put a loop at the top where the cable exits the mast to ensure water doesn't rund down the cable and cause problems as the mast step.

Jay, Also, what type of metal do you want your

rivets to be? All aluminium, all steel or aluminium/steel? I thought this might be a question you would want to ask. Rauy S/V Speedy

Jay, I don't remember the size of the rivets

and I am away from the boat but I don't think that they are real big. I do have a larger gun to use if you need it but you will have to wait until later this month. Check with Ron as his boat is close to you and maybe you can tell the correct size. Good Luck Bob s/v Gravyboat
