This year my 1988 Legend35 is having the Mast Unstepped. I'm going to install a Wind Guage, and replace some lighting. Does Hunter have Wiring Harness's for my Year and Model.,and if so, who or where do I contac them. I already tried the Chanderly.

Mast Re-Wire

I just completed a mast rewire on my 33.5 as well as added a foredeck light and wind speed/direction instrument. It has a Z-Diffusion Mast and I found that it uses plastic wire retainer trays which makes it nice to channel the wire. I know Hunter doesn't sell the harness and would be much cheeper if you purchased the wire and supplies from your local West Marine or like store. Now's a good time to add those nice things that your boat may not already have. Now for some tips... 1) Replace ALL (Including RG8X coax) of the wiring using marine grade 2 or 3 wire depending on your application. 2) Inspect your antenna as well as the mount (Replace if bad). Besure to examine all rivets (pay close attention to those holding on stainless steel). 3) Inspect your lights and besure to swap out the bulbs with new. Perko has a great LED anchor light last will last over 200,000 hours (Who wants to climb the mast every few years to replace a $2 bulb). 4) Run sentry string to every fixture for future installs. 5)Make sure not to tangle wire in the halyards (keep all wiring in the tray provided. If you find there is no tray or conduit to run wires through use pvc sprinkler pipe. connect pvc tee's at the places where the wire exits to run your steaming light etc.... The pvc can be riveted to the mast side wall. Email me back and I can explain how to do this, it's really quite simple.) 6) Use shink tube (adhesive lined) on ALL connections including the connection to your vhf antenna. Remember, it's not the water but the air you want to protect it from. 7) Lastly, use Bullfrog electrical spray on ALL connections. Regards rd@overture.com
