I'm having trouble hauling the sail up the mast of a 1979 O'Day 23. It keeps sticking. What is the best thing to use as a lubicant in the track?

Sticking Sail Track

I have tried two approaches and both work. I have cleaned the track with Acetone then whipped it with Silicon grease. That work real good. I heard a negative on that from a rigger that dirty eventually sticks to the grease and it binds up in less than season. I have also tried Parafin after cleaning with Acetone. That also seems to work well.

Dry PTFE

I use a Dry PTFE spray lubricant with excellent results. It leaves a quick drying, greasless white lubricating film that is insoluble in water and will not attract dirt or dust. Paul Palmer
