My 26x has a mast support pole that when trailoring, the top of the mast is not parallel to the boat. I would like to shorten the suppot pole and therefore lower the overall height that the top of the mast hangs out over the transom. Anyone know of any adverse effects of shortening the mast support pole?

Only for the guy behind you when you make that panic stop.....

What about the boom?

That pole also holds up the boom when taking down the main. If it was any shorter you would probably hit your head. The mast is 10'3" on the trailer not too high to deal with.

Short Pole for Garage Door Passage

I have a 9' 11" high overhead garage door opening for the building where I keep my 26X. I use a short piece of closet pole with a shaped wooden bracket that fits over the top of the pole into a 3/4" hole drilled into it, and has a "V" cut in the top to cradle the mast. I don't trailer with it just because the Mac OEM pole is so much stronger. The one thing that limits the pole length is the cabin top clearance where the spreaders are. Still I can get the boat into my storage building easily by just popping that short pole into the pedestal before bringing the boat in.
