Purhaps for the first time ever, I pulled the mainmast on my Irwin 52. The mast step looked a lot worse than I expected. I think I should pull it out and have it sand blasted and painted. I realize I have to cut a hole in the fiberglass sole to remove it. But the aft of the step purtrudes about six inches beyond the bulkhead. Making me think I will have to turn it sideway to get it out. That would require a much larger hole cut in the floor. I'm sure this procedure has been performed by others. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated before I get out the saw.
