I have a 1999 Hunter 340, traditional sail (new to us). The boat had the mast stepped on the most aft notch on the cabin top. When re-stepping the mast after shipping we put it back in the same spot. Now putting the struts back on they only just barely go short enough to fit. This is when I noticed that one of the heim ends had been sawed off buy the dealer at install to get it to fit. I am wondering which notch is correct and what will change/happen if I move the mast to the middle or forward notch to get the proper adjustment on the struts. We are new to sailing and any help would be great.
