I'm having a new mast built and need to replace the deck plate. How do I get to the back side where it bolts through the cabin top?

I do not believe that it is thru bolted. Try removing one of the screws and you should know.

Ouch, How much does a new mast go for? That has got to be expensive, I hope your insurance is paying!!!

I think Steve is correct. The plate is screwed on from on top. The screws are threaded into an aluminum plate embedded in the fiberglass in that raised section around the step. Now would be a perfect time to put in a better slightly longer wire conduit tube and seal everything very carefully so there can be no leakage to cause the support beam to soften.. good luck!

EDIT: Ian has some shots from his 34 .I believe that your step is very similar to the one in the 34.. You'll find these pictures interesting
