Mast Stepping on a 1988 26.5

greetings,will be stepping mast for first time in a week or so. any do's and do nots appreciated. any guidelines as to tensioning and setting stays and shrouds appreciated. mast does tabernacle at deck. is a crane neccessary or can i pull it up with winch.

We have a pretty good setup

Jim,The previous owner of the 26.5 we purchased this year built a pretty slick A-frame to raise the mast. With the lower shrouds removed, the A-frame attaches to the chain plates in the inner holes and goes forward from there. I have used the system twice and it seems to work very well. I added two cleats at the base of the mast to tie off the jib and spin halyards and use them both on the A-frame for safety. Post your e-mail address and I will send you some pictures.
