Hi Vega people!
Well our sailing season on the Ottawa River, Ontario/Quebec is finished for the year. Time for maintenance. My problem is that when we got Tara 2490 that there were two cracks in the fibre glass at the mast step, one on each side, starting at about the middle of the foot of the metal mast step plate and continuing outwards from there and over the curve of the step the mast sits on and down a bit. There had been some attempt at a repair. It now seems that perhaps moisture is getting in as some sticky brown residue is seen on the inside surfaces of the cabin top in that area. My question is has anybody out there had this problem and if so do you have any advice about fixing this area. I do have the Vega Handbook with its short description of the construction in this area. Any advice appreciated. Iver
