I have a 2002 Hunter 306. I have a problem that I did not really resolve for last season's launch (my fist season with this wonderful boat). Is there a pin (pins) required at the base of the mast to hold it without slipping on the mast step. The marina crew that stepped the mast seemd to think so. We used an old bold. Does anyone know what is required?

Call Selden

I would call Selden I have found them to be very helpful many times.
When I had my 2001 290 pretty much same boat as your 306 they help me with many questions when I added the ST60 wind machine and radar.
I had called Hunter and they suggested I call Selden, they know every thing about their masts.
Some one just asked about a pin for the bottom of the mast for a H-36 and I checked today and guess what no pin in the bottom of my H-36,I am assuming that a pin is not needed because the mast is lowered on to a jig saw type of groove and locks in so it can't move,I am sure Selden can say for sure.

Re: Call Selden

I do believe that for offshore racing a bolt is required through the mast base and the mounting stub. This helps keep the mast on the boat when the going gets rough
