I was looking for some sail slides for the my #2930 Vega when I saw
some sail Slugs, and it occured to me. Is it possible to replace the
hanks on my old sails with slugs that would fit inside my roller
furling track? Has anyone ever experimented with this?

When I had a Plastimo Roller Reefing for my Genoa the reefing kit came with slugs to slide up the track to use a hanked headsail if required. I can't see them in the Plastimo Catalogue but it might be worth contacting them to see if they will supply them as spares The diameter of the slide fitted the Plastimo track but I do not know the diameter but needs checking to see if it is the same as the headsail track on your boat.

I did this to convert a hanking headsail into a furling one.

Worked well.

The Part Number for the PVC Slugs that fit into the Plastimo Jib Reefing Track to permit the hanking of a Jib sail rather than the use of a bolt rope is as follows:-

I like the ability to drop a sail on a furler without having it come
off the foil. I haven't played with these yet, so I don't know how
good they are.

Hi Peter,
The reefrite system is one I am considering. Anybody have any experience with this system?
Also saw US Spars at the Sailboat Show and they told me they could ship me the whole foil in one piece. This seems to be a benifit to me, but I'm not sure how much.
I posted on another website about roller furler failure modes, and most people mentioned problems with the line getting caught in the drum.
I'm still not sure what to do..
