i'm getting out of my O'day 22 and looking at a 1978 h33. The mast is showing 1/8 to 1/4" sag. I've read everything I can find on this sight, and seen some pics, but nothing quite matches. The post is a round metal pole, not wood like the pics I've seen. I've heard of drilling holes, allowing wood to dry out in roof and filling with some kind of epoxy. Anybody else know if this works? Otherwise, the boat is in at least average shape, and most evrything works, including air conditioning. The price I'm paying (under $7500) assumes I'll need to do work, but demasting and cutting the roof might be beyond me. I'd appreciate any opinions..thanks!

If you've got a metal presure post, that was done by the PO not Hunter. I have a 78 30. I took the mast down, cut around the step down to the liner and fill it all in with glass. Gel coated the top and put it all back together. Turned out nice. Isn't that big of a job. I'd find out for sure how bad it is in there, (how wet) before I drilled holes and poured in appoxy. If your gonna fix it, fix it right. If you satisified with the metal pressure post, thats great but if not I'd put back a wooden fur one so you could finish it off nice.
